Goodness it’s felt non-stop for quite some time now, which is absolutely a blessing.

Post Ricochet we went right into Charlotte International Arts Festival- a beautiful festival w/ art installations, concerts, performances, etc – all types of art from all over – on display in various areas of Charlotte for like over two weeks. Our participation was a two weekend engagement that included 5 shows a weekend– that’s 10 total shows! Ten times performing the same act, that by the way, was made in two days given the madness of everything lately!

I was at first quite apprehensive about putting up something that I didn’t fully feel confident in because of the shortened timeline to create it or feeling that it fully represented me as an artist but what does that really mean? Because I didn’t have time to drill and choreograph some of my hardest or flashiest skills? It turned out to be actually a great experience all around and ultimately, I did enjoy my act and find a sense of pride in that it still very much represented me in a different way. Also, getting to find different places within the choreography to play and live in over the ten times it was performed was really cool and fun and, most importantly, so sustainable and doable. Finishing the act always felt like a breeze and that’s a great feeling too as an artist athlete.

Coming out of CIAF we had lots of other engagements and gigs – one of which was the UNCC Niner Nation week pep-rally uptown. We actually have not run our canned music adagio act in ages and didn’t get a chance to rehearse it prior but luckily things were so in the back pocket we were able to talk through changes, visualize, and then executed it exactly to plan! It feels really good to be in this place with my two main disciplines and I’m trying hard to remember this feeling the next time imposter syndrome wants to come and knock on my brain.
